  • Mesa Auto Accident Involves Teen Bicyclist
    Aug 22, 2010

    A Mesa auto accident involving a teen bicyclist sends a girl to a local hospital after she is struck by a car while riding her bike. The incident took place at approximately 7:30 AM on Monday morning, August 9, 2010, near Gilbert Road and Southern Avenue.

    According to Mesa Police Sgt. Ed Wessing, the 13-year-old girl was struck by a car while going through a crosswalk on her bike. Rescue crews transported the girl to a nearby hospital where she was treated for head, arm and leg injuries. She has been listed in critical condition.

    According to witnesses, the car had a green light. However, other cars had stopped for the bicyclist, but the car that hit the teen apparently did not see her. It was also reported that the young girl was not wearing a helmet at the time of the incident.

    Police have indicated that the driver remained at the scene and that the driver showed no signs of being impaired.

    The Mesa car accident involving the teen bicyclist is still under investigation by local authorities. Police indicate that they do not intend to file criminal charges against the motorist.

  • Phoenix Pedestrian Accident Leaves 3-Year-Old in Critical Condition

    A Phoenix pedestrian accident leaves a 3-year-old boy in critical condition after he is struck by a car in front of an apartment complex. The incident took place at approximately 7:30 PM on Sunday evening, July 25, 2010, near 35th Avenue and Dunlap Avenue.

    According to Phoenix Police Department spokesperson Lt. Ben Leushner, the young boy was playing with a group of children outside of an apartment complex when he was struck by a vehicle. Leushner indicated that the child darted into the street when he was struck in the head by a woman’s side mirror. The woman was traveling northbound on 35th Avenue. The driver apparently attempted to swerve to avoid hitting the boy.

    Rescue crews transported the victim to St. Joseph’s Hospital. He was listed in critical condition.

    Officials indicate that the child was being supervised by relatives in a gated area. However, the child managed to exit the area before running into the street.

    The Phoenix pedestrian accident is still under investigation by local authorities. According to Leushner, the woman was not speeding at the time of the accident and police do not believe that she was impaired.

  • Phoenix Car Accident Leaves 7 Injured

    A Phoenix car accident involving three vehicles sends seven people to local hospitals after the vehicles collide with one another. The incident took place at approximately 12:45 PM on Sunday afternoon, July 25, 2010, near 35th Avenue and Peoria Avenue, according to Phoenix Fire Department spokesperson Scott Walker.

    When rescue crews arrived on the scene, they discovered that the accident involved two cars and a pick-up truck. Rescue crews transported seven people, including two young children, to nearby hospitals where they were treated for injuries sustained in the accident.

    Two of the victims, including a 5-year-old boy, were listed in serious condition. Fortunately, the four other victims only suffered minor injuries in the collision. The identities of the seven victims were not immediately made known. Their conditions were also not immediately made known.

    The three-vehicle Phoenix auto accident is still under investigation by local authorities. It is unclear as to who was at fault or what caused the afternoon collision. Anyone with information concerning the accident has been asked to contact local authorities.

  • Fatal Arizona Car Accident Results in Mistaken Identity

    An Arizona car accident involving a blown tire claims the lives of two former Ironwood High School students and leaves at least two others hospitalized. The incident took place on Sunday, July 18, 2010, along Interstate 10, approximately 50 miles west of Glendale.

    According to the Department of Public Safety (DPS), the friends were returning from a weekend trip to Disneyland when the left rear tire of their Ford SUV blew. The blow-out caused the driver to lose control of the SUV, which rolled over.

    The car accident claimed the lives of 20-year-old Tyler Parker and 21-year-old Marlena Cantu. A third victim, 19-year-old Abby Guerra, suffered critical injuries and remains hospitalized.

    The fatal auto accident resulted in a case of mistaken identity. At first, it was reported that Guerra had died in the accident and that Cantu was the critically injured victim, which was incorrect. However, hospital officials later realized the mistake and notified the victim’s parents of the mix-up.

    Giselle Morales, 20, also sustained injuries in the single-vehicle wreck. Her injuries were described as severe.

    The fatal Arizona car accident is still under investigation by local authorities. There was no other information provided as to the cause of the blow-out.

  • A Phoenix Pedestrian Accident Claims the Life of a Woman

    A Phoenix pedestrian accident involving a hit-and-run driver claims the live of a woman after she is struck while crossing a busy street. The incident took place at approximately 7:30 PM on Thursday evening, July 29, 2010, on Bell Road.

    According to local police, a woman was struck by a black Cadillac while crossing Bell Road near State Route 51. Rescue crews transported the unidentified 35-year-old woman to a local hospital where she passed away the next day due to injuries sustained in the accident.

    Reports indicate that the woman was walking with four family members when the incident occurred. Fortunately, there were no other injuries reported as a result of the accident.

    Police report that the driver fled the accident scene.  However, witnesses followed the car to a Mesa home where they apprehended the suspect. Police also arrested the man’s girlfriend, who called police and reported the vehicle stolen.

    The fatal hit-and-run accident is still under investigation by local authorities. There was no indication as to what caused the man to hit the 35-year-old woman.

  • Surprise Car Accident Involves Maricopa County Sheriff’s Deputy

    A Surprise car accident involving a Maricopa County Sheriff’s Office vehicle leaves a house with minor damage after a deputy misses a turn and slams through a block wall. The incident took place early Wednesday, July 14, 2010, near Union Hills Drive and 115th Avenue.

    According to officials, a Maricopa County Sheriff’s deputy was responding to a family dispute when the accident occurred.  The deputy apparently missed a turn near Union Hills Drive and 115th Avenue and slammed through a block wall. The deputy’s vehicle reportedly came within a foot of the house. However, the house did suffered minor damage from the blocks that fell from the wall.

    It has also been reported that the deputy had an individual with him who was on a ride along. It was unclear as to whether the deputy, the person riding along with him or anyone in the house sustained injuries in the freak accident.

    The Surprise auto accident is still under investigation by local authorities. It is unclear as to what caused the deputy to miss the turn resulting in the vehicle slamming through the block wall.

    This is an unfortunate incident and we hope that no one was seriously injured in the single-vehicle accident.

  • Surprise Auto Accident Involves Intoxicated Woman

    A Surprise auto accident involving two vehicles leaves a local woman facing DUI charges. The incident took place on Sunday, July 11, 2010, near Bell Road and Avenue of the Arts.

    According to Surprise Police, 21-year-old Monique Aguilar was involved in a collision near Bell Road and Avenue of the Arts. Aguilar allegedly fled the accident scene.

    There were no details concerning the extent of the accident or whether anyone was injured in the wreck.

    Police eventually pulled Aguilar over where she allegedly admitted to officers that she had 8 beers prior to the incident. Police also learned that immediately following the accident the woman dropped off three children related to her at her mother’s house. The children were between the ages of 10 and 12.

    Officials have reported that Aguilar’s vehicle had an interlock device as a result of a previous DUI arrest. Police claim that she admitted that she had someone else blow into the device prior to the two-vehicle wreck.

    The Surprise car accident is still under investigation by local authorities. Aguilar faces several charges that include DUI, extreme DUI, aggravated DUI for children under 15 in the car and failure to stop for an accident.

  • A Chandler Car Accident Claims the Life of a Gilbert Man

    A Chandler car accident involving two vehicles claims the life of a local man after his car is struck by another vehicle. The incident took place at approximately 6:30 PM on Tuesday evening, July 6, 2010, along 56th Street.

    According to Chandler Detective David Ramer, Arik Watts, 31, of Gilbert, was driving a sport utility vehicle (SUV) down 56th Street at the Galveston Street intersection when his SUV was t-boned by a sedan. The force of the impact caused Watts to be ejected from his vehicle. Unfortunately, Watts lost his life due to injuries sustained in the accident.

    The driver of the sedan has been identified as Frank Jennings Jr., 26, of Chandler. Ramer indicated that authorities believe that Jennings was traveling at a high rate of speed when the accident occurred. Officials also believe that he was driving under the influence of alcohol and possibly drugs.

    “I’m really sad,” said Jessica Badger. “He (Watts) was always so happy. Always making jokes. He always remembered to say goodbye to me and to tell me to have a nice day.

    The fatal Chandler accident is still under investigation by local authorities.

  • Glendale Car Accident Claims the Life of One

    A Glendale car accident involving two vehicles claims the life of one person and leaves another with serious injuries. The incident took place at approximately 2:00 PM on Saturday afternoon, June 26, 2010, near 59th Avenue and Cactus Road.

    According to Glendale fire department spokesperson Randy Rodriguez, the incident occurred when a Jeep was t-boned by a truck. There were two unidentified victims in the Jeep, an adult male and an adult female. Rescue crews transported both victims to a nearby hospital where they were treated for injuries sustained in the accident.

    Unfortunately, one of the victims lost their life. Rodriguez was unable to confirm which victim died. Neither of their identities was made known.

    The unidentified driver of the truck was also injured as a result of the collision. However, the truck driver’s injuries were described as being minor.

    The exact cause of the accident was unclear. However, Glendale Police Sgt. Brent Coombs indicated that police believe that the accident may have occurred when one vehicle made a left turn into a private driveway in front of the other vehicle.

    The fatal Glendale auto accident is still under investigation by local authorities.

  • Avondale Pedestrian Accident Leaves Girl Injured
    Jul 07, 2010

    An Avondale pedestrian accident involving two vehicles leaves a local girl hospitalized. The incident took place on Wednesday afternoon, June 23, 2010, near Central Avenue and Madden Avenue.

    According to the Avondale police department, an unidentified 12-year-old girl was struck by a Nissan Sentra while she was riding her bike in an attempt to cross Central Avenue eastbound at Madden Avenue. Avondale police detective Reuben Gonzales reported that rescue crews transported the victim to a nearby hospital where she was treated for head injuries. She is reported as being in stable condition.

    According to reports, a delivery van stopped in the curb lane as the victim entered the roadway. However, the driver of the Nissan, which was heading south on Central Avenue in the inside lane, may not have seen the girl and consequently hit her.

    The unidentified driver of the Nissan remained at the scene. However, the driver of the deliver van did not and authorities are still trying to locate the van and its driver.

    The Avondale pedestrian accident is still under investigation by local authorities. Police have reported that the victim was not wearing a bicycle helmet at the time she was struck.
