
A Phoenix pedestrian accident involving a hit-and-run driver claims the live of a woman after she is struck while crossing a busy street. The incident took place at approximately 7:30 PM on Thursday evening, July 29, 2010, on Bell Road.
According to local police, a woman was struck by a black Cadillac while crossing Bell Road near State Route 51. Rescue crews transported the unidentified 35-year-old woman to a local hospital where she passed away the next day due to injuries sustained in the accident.
Reports indicate that the woman was walking with four family members when the incident occurred. Fortunately, there were no other injuries reported as a result of the accident.
Police report that the driver fled the accident scene. However, witnesses followed the car to a Mesa home where they apprehended the suspect. Police also arrested the man’s girlfriend, who called police and reported the vehicle stolen.
The fatal hit-and-run accident is still under investigation by local authorities. There was no indication as to what caused the man to hit the 35-year-old woman.
