The insurance company is requesting that I sign a medical release form. Will that hurt my injury claim?
schedule a consultation

A: Don’t sign anything without first consulting with a Phoenix car accident attorney,  even if it appears to be a reasonable request by the insurance company.

Insurance companies commonly ask claimants to sign medical release forms.  While it appears logical that the insurer would need to obtain information about your injuries and the subsequent treatment, you could be agreeing to more than you realize by signing the form.  You could end up giving the insurance company permission to dig into your entire medical history.

If the insurance company has access to ALL of your medical records, it could start looking for pre-existing medical conditions that would be used to deny your claim.  You need to make sure you protect yourself.
